April 10th, 2001 Men Of Honor. This has got to be one of the best films I have ever seen. It is based on a true story of the strength and courage of one man, played by Cuba Gooding Jr. Who in my opinion played this role even better then his Oscar winning preformance in Jerry McGuire. He played this role with great passion and courage. As did co-star Robert DeNiro, in what could be considered one of his greatest preformance although there are many. The film is about Carl Brashear, who fights all the odds to become the navy's first African American deep-sea salvage. The film is set in the 50's and 60's when racism was a raging issue, which made his struggle that much more dificult, but the inspiring story of this man's courage is brilliantly transformed onto the screen. This film was highly entertaining, inspiring and a true demonstration of human triumph.
April 9th, 2001 I recently watched 102 Dalmations, with little expectation. However it was good! I loved it, of corse it is certianly not a movie for everybody, it's definately charming and cute! If you are looking for a movie to watch with your kids, or just one thats not full of the grotesque violence and nudity, then this is the movie for you! It is a Disney movie of corse so this is to be expected! April 8th, 2001 The Legend Of Bagger Vance, this movie was over all impressive. It was a bit long and slow to develop, however the preformances of Charlize Theron and Will Smith were incredible! The story itself takes place in Savannah, GA which is of corse my favorite city in the world. And the fact that the plot is centered around Golf, it was none the less entertaining and inspiring. Definately a movie you are going to want to check out! |
April 7th Charlies Angels, while it was a reletively good movie, the hype was much more then the movie deserved. The effects were good, as was the acting, however the story was lacking. I did enjoy it, however, I wouldnt suggest going out of your way to see this film. Especially if you are expecting a phenomenal hit, which it clearly was not. The thing that put me off the most was the uncreative means of borrowing similar effects from action movies. The only time that this is actually entertaining in my opinion is in a parody movie. All three lead actress' Drew Barrymore, Lucy Lu and even Cameron Diaz delivered a great preformance, however with a bit better scripting this film could have been great. Bill Murray also provided a comidic releif needed, and yet it still wasnt as great as it could have been. April 6th Remember The Titans, I rented this one only because it was one of the few released that particular week, and I was amazed. This film was not at all what I thought it would be, Denzel Washingtons preformance was unbeleivable, and the best that I have ever seen him in. The film itself showcased the struggle that students faced when schools intergrated all races, and the pressure that all the students faced from peer pressure, their parents and the public. It focus' mainly on the football stars, and what happens when they are forced with resistance to mix their races. With Denzel Washington as the coach, the boys learn to lose their preconceptions and get along with one another. However when they return from camp, the pressure from outside influences causes more tension. This is also a realistic film by the Walt Disney Company, and was done extremely tastfully, and with tones of class! This is a film definately worth seeing at least once, if not more! |
